Understand your bill before you switch

Electricity Choices in Londonderry, NH

Londonderry residents can compare electricity supply through utility default service, the town’s Community Choice Aggregation program or an individual competitive supplier. Your utility still delivers the power. Start with official resources and the full contract—not an advertised price alone.

What changes when you choose an electricity supplier?

You choose who supplies the electricity. Your utility still delivers it. For Londonderry residents with Eversource service, Eversource continues to maintain the wires and meter, handle outages and deliver power. Changing suppliers does not change restoration priority or reliability.

Supply

The energy you buy, usually priced per kilowatt-hour (kWh). You can compare your current supply with other available offers.

Delivery

The regulated charges for the utility network and related services. These remain on your bill when you switch suppliers. A lower supply rate does not eliminate delivery charges.

Start with your bill: confirm your utility, current supplier, supply price per kWh and monthly usage. New Hampshire requires competitive suppliers to register, but their prices are not regulated. Registration is not an endorsement or a promise of savings. Read NH Department of Energy’s explanation.

Three electricity supply choices for Londonderry households

Utility default supply

Eversource procures default energy service for customers on that option. Its supply price changes periodically. Use the state comparison page to check the applicable current utility rate.

Town Community Choice Aggregation

Londonderry’s town program began in April 2026. Freedom Energy Logistics manages it; First Point Power is its supply provider. Eligible customers can participate without individually shopping for a supplier contract.

An individual competitive supplier

You select a registered company and its specific contract. Offers differ in price structure, length, renewal rules and fees. Availability depends on your utility, address and account eligibility.

Londonderry’s town program: check your bill before shopping

You may already be receiving town-program supply. Existing competitive-supplier and net-metering accounts were not automatically enrolled at launch. Check your supplier line rather than assuming which option you have.

The program website lists a renewal supply term beginning November 1, 2026. Existing participants do not need to take action to remain enrolled. The program allows opting in or out without an early termination fee, with changes tied to meter reads. Eversource continues to send the consolidated bill. Your own existing supplier contract may have different exit terms.

What to check before signing an electricity contract

Do your own research and read the complete contract before enrolling. No supplier is recommended here, and switching does not guarantee savings.

How to switch—and where to get help

  1. Find your current supplier, usage and supply price on your bill.
  2. Compare the state rate board and town program with your current contract, including exit fees.
  3. Save the full offer and contract before enrolling. Share account information only once you have decided to switch and verified who you are dealing with.
  4. Confirm the supplier and price on subsequent bills, then calendar the renewal date.

The new supplier normally arranges the change with your utility. Switching follows meter-read timing and may take one or two months to appear on your bill. If you change your mind, act promptly: the rescission window varies by enrollment method; consult your enrollment notice and the state FAQ.

Solar, assistance and special account situations

If you have net metering, ask how a supply change affects export credits before enrolling. Do not assume credits remain identical. New Hampshire’s Electric Assistance Program benefits continue to apply to supply and delivery with competitive supply, according to the state FAQ; confirm your account-specific details.

Does a supplier change who handles outages?

No. Contact your delivery utility for outages, wires or meter issues. Supplier selection changes supply arrangements, not the utility network.

What if an enrollment or charge looks wrong?

Contact the supplier and your utility promptly, retain the contract and bill, and use NH Department of Energy’s consumer guidance to find the appropriate assistance channel. Do not assume a sales caller represents your utility.

NH electricity choice FAQ: switching, billing, assistance and consumer protections

Can I return to another supply option?

Yes, but review your current contract’s termination terms and meter-read timing first. Londonderry’s town program publishes its own opt-in/out process; individual supplier terms may differ.

How this guide was researched

Reviewed the official NH residential Eversource comparison board, state consumer FAQ, Londonderry town information, program manager renewal information and linked supplier websites on October 8, 2026. The state board was accessible in a normal browser despite automated-request restrictions. Prices, rankings, savings guarantees and promotional claims are intentionally omitted.

Two additional board names—CleanChoice Energy and Smart Energy—were held out of the linked directory because their official websites could not be conclusively opened in this review. That is not evidence of closure or misconduct. First Point Power is identified separately as the town program’s supplier, verified through its official website and program documents.
